Hoje vamos falar de duas cidades mineiras. Ficam distantes entre si 14 km, mas são completamente diferentes. São João del Rei com construções grandiosas em estilo barroco com várias igrejas gigantes, não é a toa que é conhecida como a “cidade dos sinos”. Tiradentes é bem menor e suas construções são mais simples, mas muito bonitas e bem preservadas. É mesmo um encanto. Geralmente quem vai a São João del Rei tira um dia para ir a Tiradentes, via Trem Maria Fumaça ou de carro. Vale a pena e em um dia você conhece toda a cidade andando a pé. Vamos começar por São João del Rei.
Igreja que fica localizada dentro do pátio da Universidade Federal de São João del Rei
São João del Rei é um município em uma região serrana do Complexo da Serra da Mantiqueira, a Sudeste do estado de Minas Gerais. A cidade foi fundada por bandeirantes paulistas, considera-se Tomé Portes del-Rei como seu fundador. Fiquei hospedada em uma Pousada que é um casarão antigo e muito charmosa. Pousada Villa Magnólia, fica bem ao lado da Universidade de São João del Rei e a Igreja São Francisco de Assis. A Igreja de São Francisco de Assis é uma das referências da arquitetura colonial do estado, construída em 1772 e a autoria do projeto original é de Aleijadinho e tem como destaque seu jardim frontal com palmeiras imperiais. No fundo tem um cemitério onde está sepultado Tancredo Neves e sua esposa Risoleta Neves. No domingo às 09:00 horas, é celebrada a missa orquestrada pela bicentenária orquestra Ribeiro Bastos e é aberta a toda a comunidade.
Ponte do Rosário, bem em frente ao Memorial Tancredo Neves
Como ficamos bem pertinho da Igreja São Francisco de Assis, deu para fazer tudo a pé. Descendo na rua da igreja já chega na ponte do Rosário e no Memorial Tancredo Neves, que é uma casa bem grande e bonita, ao lado do prédio tem um banco com uma estátua dele e ficou bem parecido com ele. Os turistas gostam de tirar fotos com ele. Logo mais abaixo está uma pracinha com a Igreja Nossa Senhora do Rosário e o Solar dos Neves, que é a casa da família Neves.

Esta igreja é tida como a mais antiga da cidade, possivelmente construída em 1719. Seu interior é bem simples.
Solar dos Neves.
Na rua do Solar dos Neves, na rua Santo Antonio está a rua das casas tortas, são casas bem preservadas e bonitinhas, mas com um detalhe, são tortas. Suas paredes frontais são inclinadas. Nas fotos fica difícil de ver, mas pessoalmente é bem nítido a inclinação.

É conhecida também por ser uma cidade universitária devido a presença da UFSJ, do IPTAN e IF-Sudeste de MG, além do grande número de repúblicas estudantis espalhadas pela cidade.
Catedral Basílica Nossa Senhora do Pilar
Descendo pela rua do Solar dos Neves, logo a esquerda está a Catedral Basílica Nossa Senhora do Pilar. Esta igreja é considerada a quinta mais rica em ouro do Brasil e foi construída em 1721 no local da primitiva capela destruída durante a guerra dos Emboabas. O seu interior é muito rico com talhas e pinturas barrocas.
Igreja Nossa Senhora do Carmo
Continuando a descer já encontra a igreja Nossa Senhora do Carmo, que é da fase áurea do rococó, datam do ano de 1734. O interior apresenta magníficas obras em talha mas sem douramento comum das igrejas colonias.
Estação Ferroviária de São João del Rei e Museu Ferroviário
A estação ferroviária de São João del Rei está junto a rodoviária, tem estacionamento em frente e se pode deixar o carro e ir de trem Maria Fumaça para Tiradentes. Na estação funciona o Museu Ferroviário também e tem um vagão bem antigo onde os turistas tiram fotos e podem até usar roupas de época. Claro que a um preço extra.

Entrando no Trem Maria Fumaça para ir a Tiradentes.
A viagem a Tiradentes é bem atraente e dura em média 40 minutos. São 12 km de via férrea. Ao chegar na estação de Tiradentes é só ir seguindo o fluxo das pessoas para a cidade. Passa uma pequena ponte e estará no centrinho da cidade. O ideal é ir bem cedo de São João del Rei e passar a manhã em Tiradentes, almoçar por lá, pois tem vários restaurantes pequenos e bem bonitinhos.
O Horário de funcionamento é:
- Saídas de Tiradentes: 13:00 e 17:00
- Domingos saídas de S. J. del Rei ás 10:00 e 13:00 horas
- Saídas de Tiradentes: 11:00 e 14:00 horas
- Sextas e sábados saídas de S. J. del Rei às 10:00 e 15:00
Estação Ferroviária de Tiradentes
Fundada em 1702, a cidade cresceu devido à grande quantidade de ouro encontrado na região. Por mais de 50 anos, grandes remessas de ouro, extraídas seguiam pelo litoral pela Estrada Real. Com o aumento dos impostos pela Coroa Portuguesa exigindo o pagamento do quinto do ouro, fez nascer nesta Vila o espírito revolucionário de liberdade que culminou na Inconfidência Mineira. Com a delação, o Inconfidente Joaquim José da Silva Xavier – Tiradentes – foi condenado à forca. Em 1889, a cidade recebe o nome de seu filho ilustre.

Hoje seu patrimônio, quase inalterado, a torna destaque entre as cidades coloniais, sendo considerada a mais original do país, favorecida ainda pelos trabalhos de seus artesãos e por toda a beleza natural da Serra de São José, que guarda trilhas históricas, cachoeiras e belos mirantes.
Um dos lindos restaurantes e lojinhas de Tiradentes
Atualmente às sextas feiras (20:00 horas) são realizados concertos, executados pela organista oficial Elisa Freixo. Além do impressionante som dos 680 tubos, nas mãos de uma excepcional artista, o concerto tem como atrativo a exuberante obra barroca da Matriz Santo Antonio de Pádua.
Matriz Santo Antônio de Pádua e uma das charretes que passeiam com os turistas.
Essa igreja é considerada a segunda mais rica em ouro do país, construção iniciada em 1710. Possui um dos quinze órgãos mais importantes do mundo e um relógio de sol de 1785. Sua fachada atual foi desenhada por Aleijadinho.

Do outro lado da rua um pouco acima está a Casa da Câmara e olhando para frente a Igreja Matriz
Capela Nossa Senhora do Rosário
Esta Capela foi construída pelos escravos, de 1708 a 1719, que trabalhavam à noite e levavam em suas unhas e cabelos, o ouro roubado para decorar a igreja. As imagens que compõem seus altares são de cor negra.
