O Canal do Panamá está localizado como o nome já diz no Panamá. É uma construção grandiosa feita pelos Estados Unidos. Cerca de 77 km de extensão de um canal artificial para fazer a passagem dos navios do Oceano Atlântico ao Oceano Pacífico. São várias Eclusas, mas com certeza a mais famosa é a de Miraflores. Tem um centro de visitação organizado e interessante. É um passeio que vale a pena, mesmo para quem não é do ramo da construção.

Eclusa Miraflores

Sempre ouvi falar do Canal do Panamá e estava em uma conexão longa, de 11 horas, na cidade do Panamá e pensei!! Agora chegou a vez de conhece-lo. Não precisa de mais de algumas horas para fazer a visita e tudo é muito organizado e prático. No aeroporto mesmo já contratamos um táxi que nos levou e esperou fazermos a visita. Pagamos em dólar e posso garantir que valeu cada centavo. Não foi tão caro. Pagamos 50 dólares para nos levar, fazer um city-tour pelo centro histórico da cidade do Panamá e nos deixar no Metromall que oferece transporte gratuito até o aeroporto.

Eclusa Miraflores

Sem dúvida a grande atração do Canal do Panamá é a Eclusa Miraflores e qualquer motorista de Táxi irá lhe contar toda a história da construção. Eles tem tudo na ponta da língua. Afinal, é o grande orgulho do pequeno país, não é pra menos um canal que liga dois oceanos Atlântico e Pacífico é mesmo de arrepiar !! O trânsito na cidade do Panamá é bem intenso e caso esteja em conexão, não facilite, calcule direitinho o tempo. Do aeroporto  Tocumen até o Canal do Panamá, gasta-se em torno de 40 minutos, se o trânsito estiver bom, na volta o trânsito estava mais complicado e acho que gastamos quase 1 hora.

Mirante da Eclusa Miraflores, dá pra perceber como venta!

A construção do Canal do Panamá começou pelos franceses, em 1879, que posteriormente abandonaram a obra.  Foram muito infelizes na empreitada e devido às doenças tropicais da região, muitos trabalhadores perderam suas vidas. Os Estados Unidos, retomaram as obras interessados no potencial comercial e mesmo militar do canal. Para se ter uma ideia, quem faz a proteção do país são os Estados Unidos, no Panamá  não tem exército.   O canal foi concluído em 1914 e as Eclusas que é uma espécie de  elevadores para navios, foram construídas a fim de transpor a diferença do nível de água dos dois oceanos. Isso tudo fica bem explicadinho no filme que a gente assiste no Centro de Visitação da Eclusa Miraflores. Tem um restaurante no andar de cima do terraço, que é bem legal, poder assistir a passagem dos navios ao sabor de um belo prato panamenho, deve ser muito bom.

 Vista do Canal

O saldo da construção não foi muito bom em termos de vidas perdidas. Falam em 5 mil mortos Nossa!! Muita gente. Teve muitos acidentes, mas a maioria por doenças: febre amarela e malária.

Hoje, o Canal do Panamá é a principal via de navegação entre os dois oceanos por onde passam cerca de 12 mil navios por ano. O canal funciona através de um sistema de eclusas     para compensar a diferença de altitude entre o Atlântico e o Pacífico e entre estes e o Lago Gatun que fica bem no meio do canal e é o ponto de maior altitude.

Durante o passeio no Centro de visitação Eclusa Miraflores, se assisti ao filme que explica o funcionamento e a história da construção  e também o Museu com fotos, maquete, filminhos, etc. Tem um Terraço onde os turistas ficam aguardando a passagem do navio. Quando está próximo de chegar algum é tocado um sinal e os turistas já se acomodam para assistir o sobe
e desce das águas. Não é um processo demorado e olha que é muita água.

A Eclusa cheia de água

O Canal do Panamá conta com 77 quilômetros de comprimentos e para percorre-lo gasta em média 8 a 10 horas. Bem menos do que antigamente as embarcações tinham que fazer, 20 mil quilômetros. Valeu o esforço!!  outra curiosidade:  é o canal mais seguro do mundo, tendo 1 incidente a cada 4 mil embarcações que transitam através dele.

Outra grande novidade é que já foi inaugurado o novo Canal Ampliado. Este, feito por 95%

de panamenhos e é o grande orgulho do país. Com apenas  oito óbitos nas obras, um número insignificante em relação aos milhares de trabalhadores que perderam a vida na construção do canal original pela febre amarela, a malária e o trabalho extenuante. Este novo jogo de Eclusas permitirá a passagem de barcos 3 vezes maiores.

 

 

Os turistas apreciam muito a vista dos navios que o Terraço permite. Não encontrei aglomeração na hora de ver a passagem dos navios. Foi bem tranquilo e organizado. O museu é muito interessante e bem explicadinho. Tem os peixes que vivem no canal, os itens usados na construção, muitas fotos, banners. Mas, o que eu mais gostei  foi  a cabine de um navio que você se sente atravessando o Canal sendo o próprio comandante.  Bem interativo!

Dentro do Museu

Alem dos passeios à Eclusas, existem vários passeios que são bem atraentes. A própria Cidade do Panamá já é um atrativo. Mas, isto fica para outro post. É possível sobrevoar o canal de helicóptero, quem fez o passeio disse que é incrível. Não tivemos a oportunidade de fazer e dura em média 1 hora. https://panamaairadventures.com/ este site é da empresa que faz este serviço e é super recomendado.

Outro passeio muito procurado e acho que vale a pena é o de barco, com a opção de fazer o canal todo, 165 dólares, duração de 9 horas. O canal parcial, 115 dólares e duração de 4 hrs e 30 minutos. QUANDO VISITAR O CANAL DO PANAMÁ

De maio a novembro chove quase todos os dias, mas nada que atrapalhe o passeio. A época mais seca são os meses de Janeiro a Abril. Quanto a temperatura, não se preocupe é sempre em torno de 30 graus celcius, durante o dia e 19 graus celcius à noite. Muito agradável!
