Olá viajantes!!
Catânia é uma cidade italiana da região da Sicília. É a segunda maior cidade da Sicília, seu aeroporto é o mais importante da ilha da Sicília e é por onde a maioria dos turistas chegam e que desejam ir para cidades famosas da região. Com cerca de 400 mil habitantes e aparentemente estranha a primeira vista, devido a cor de suas construções que foram realizadas com pedras lávicas, um tanto escuras. Enegrecidos também pela fuligem do Vulcão Etna, que fica próximo à cidade. A cidade é bem agitada e com um enorme fluxo de imigrantes, devido a sua localização que propicia esta entrada.
Uma vida noturna bem agitada nos fins de semana, com vários bares e restaurantes. A iluminação da cidade é lindíssima, com luminárias da época de sua construção dando um toque todo especial e uma atmosfera incrível. Sem contar que a culinária da Sicília é a melhor do mundo. Não deixe de experimentar: Arancina, Cipollina, Sfoglia e Pizzeta. Devido sua proximidade com uma das cidades mais bonitas do mundo, Taormina, Catânia fica sendo um ponto de apoio para quem não quer enfrentar os preços altos da cidade.
Fomos para Catânia de trem. Tínhamos um passe que dava direito a andar por 5 dias gratuitamente por 3 países e reservamos esse dia para irmos de Roma a Catânia. A viagem é longa e como o percurso seria diurno não haveria necessidade de reservas de assento. Saímos de Roma às 11:30 da manhã e chegamos às 21:00 horas. De vez em quando chegava alguém que tinha reserva no assento em que eu estava, desta forma tinha que mudar. Mas, isso ocorreu poucas vezes e sempre tinha assento vago. Passamos por várias cidades conhecidas na Itália, mas o melhor estaria por vir. Principalmente sendo brasileiros e não tendo algo parecido aqui no nosso país. Chegando no Estreito de Messina, que é onde tem a travessia para a ilha da Sicília, não tem uma ponte e lembre-se estávamos de trem. Como iríamos passar para o outro lado. Esperávamos que iríamos passar para uma balsa e do outro lado pegar outro trem. Enganamos!! O trem entra dentro da balsa, pois ela possui trilhos para que o trem encaixe dentro deles e isso tudo ocorre bem rapidinho. Uma vez dentro da balsa os passageiros podem sair para fora do trem e aproveitar a bela paisagem do Estreito e da cidade de Messina. Chegamos em Catânia a noite, descemos na estação e já estávamos com hotel reservado. Um hotel muito bom que reservamos pelo Booking.com. http://www.sanmaxhotel.it/ Faça suas reservas aqui pelo Blog e nos ajude na divulgação. Não custará nada a mais em suas diárias. Pagamos cerca de 53 euros a diária.
Passamos por uma avenida larga e por alguns garotos usando drogas. As ruas são relativamente seguras com vários policiais por elas. Mas, não é uma cidade que se possa andar tranquilamente a noite em algumas regiões. Suas pequenas ruas e avenidas são encantadoras com vários edifícios em estilo barroco. O ponto principal da cidade é a Piazza del Duomo e é onde está a famosa Fonte Dell’Elefante. Segundo a lenda, elefantes de pedra eram colocados nas portas da cidade para assustarem os invasores e o único que teria restado seria aquele colocado na “Fontana dell’Elefante” defronte ao “Palazzo dei Chierici”. Outra resposta está em que o elefante protegia a cidade de erupções vulcânicas do Etna. Ele é bem grande e a fonte muito interessante. Não deixe de fotografá-lo, afinal, ele é o símbolo da cidade. Junto a ele está um obelisco do tempo das cruzadas e que veio do Egito.
São tantas atrações próximo a praça que fica difícil escolher em qual ir primeiro. Mas, o teatro Massimo Bellini é sensacional, com dois andares e colunas bonitas e majestosas. Entre no site e saiba tudo sobre a história e a programação do teatro. http://www.teatromassimobellini.it/
Na Via dei Crociferi se pode encontrar quatro igrejas lindas, praticamente uma do lado da outra. O Museu Diocesano também é um local imperdível e se pode subir no terraço e ter uma bela vista da cidade. Outra rua que corta a cidade é a Via Etnea, não poderia ter outro nome né!! Ela segue em direção ao vulcão de mesmo nome. Possui vários bares e lanchonetes e não pode passar carros que é uma grande vantagem, poder andar tranquilamente e admirar seus belos edifícios. Nesta avenida está o que restou de um Anfiteatro Romano, que já foi muito importante na Itália e que pode ser visitado gratuitamente.
Quem vai a Catânia não pode deixar de ir ao Vulcão Etna que é o maior vulcão ativo da Europa. Com 3.343 metros de altitude. Ele é um vulcão diferente por possuir várias crateras e as crateras que não estão mais ativas podem ser visitadas com guias ou não. Até crianças e idosos podem ir. Se pode ir de carro e chegar a uma estação de teleférico. Neste local tem vários restaurantes e é bem bonitinho. De lá segue no teleférico e aí sim a vista é bela. As excursões às crateras que estão ativas, só podem ir com guias especializados e o turista tem que ter um bom preparo físico. Existem passeios ao Etna para todos os gostos, preparo físico, preços diferenciais, quantidade de dias, etc. Vai da opção de cada dia. Na cidade tem várias agências que oferecem este tipo de serviço e não tem necessidade de adquirir com antecedência.
Devido sua proximidade com uma das cidades mais bonitas do mundo, Taormina, a Catânia fica sendo um ponto de apoio para quem não quer enfrentar os preços altos da cidade. Deve ser explorada a pé, as ruas são planas e próprias para o pedestre. A estação de trem fica em frente ao mar e é bem bonitinha e organizada. Voltamos da Catânia para Roma em um trem noturno. Passamos a noite dentro de uma cabine com camas estilo beliche para quatro passageiros. Chegamos em Roma pela manhã. Com isso economizamos uma diária de hotel e já estávamos prontos para passear.
