Uma grata surpresa foi conhecer Istambul. A maior cidade da Turquia embora sua capital seja Ancara é lá que tudo acontece em termos de industria, comércio, cultura e educação. Conhecida por Constantinopla (em homenagem ao Imperador Constantino) até 1930, quando foi oficialmente denominada de Istambul, nome este que já era utilizada pelos turcos. Por centenas de anos a cidade seria a mais rica e poderosa do mundo cristão sob o domínio do Império Romano do Oriente. Os vestígios mais importantes desse período são antigas igrejas de estilo bizantino, como a basílica de Santa Sofia. Depois do domínio Otomano, Istambul foi transformada em um símbolo da cultura Islâmica e hoje a maioria da população é muçulmana, a minoria é cristã ou judia. É dividida pelo Estreito de Bósforo e o Mar de Mármara tornando a cidade a única que está localizada entre a Ásia e a Europa. Visitar Istambul é ter a oportunidade de atravessar uma ponte e estar em outro continente, pois ela ocupa os dois.
Basília Santa Sofia em estilo bizantino
Chegamos em Istambul vindo da Grécia. Saímos de Atenas https://andiamoblogviagens.com.br/atenas-grecia/ às 15:35 e chegamos em Istambul às 17:05. Voamos pela Turkish https://www.turkishairlines.com/ e valeu muito a pena. Excelente empresa aérea. Chegamos no aeroporto de Istambul Ataturk, http://www.ataturkairport.com/en-EN/Pages/Main.aspx que é o mais importante da Turquia. O mesmo opera com destinos domésticos e voos internacionais ao redor do mundo. O desembarque foi bem tranquilo e brasileiros não necessitam de visto. Existem 3 terminais: Terminal A (voos domésticos), Terminal B (voos internacionais) e Terminal C (de carga). Funcionando 24 horas e ligados entre si por uma passarela.
Praças do lado moderno da cidade.
Localizado no lado europeu da cidade, fica a cerca de 20 km do centro histórico (Sultanahmet). O aeroporto tem o nome em homenagem a Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, o fundador e primeiro presidente da República da Turquia.
Olha como é escrito Táxi em turco.
Assim que saímos da área de desembarque fomos em busca de um táxi. Nos deparamos com os balcões de táxi e contratamos lá mesmo o táxi que nos levaria até o hotel e que no dia da volta nos buscaria. O nosso tempo em Istambul seria bem limitado, apenas 2 dias. Foi bem corrido. Portanto, não queríamos perder tempo com nada. Lá eles já vendem também os passeios de barco pelo Bósforo a noite (é bem bonito). Mas, depois vimos que fizemos uma grande bobagem. Além de pagarmos mais caro pela corrida, 70 euros ida e volta, no dia de voltarmos, o táxi atrasou e nos deixou bem apreensivos. Ligamos várias vezes à empresa e a resposta era a mesma, ele já está próximo ao hotel e nada de chegar. Foi um sufoco. Portanto, recomendo pegar um táxi comum, que qualquer recepcionista de hotel poderá providenciar e o preço é bem inferior, 25 euros ida ou volta.
Estreito de Bósforo
Tirando esse inconveniente foi bem tranquilo já sairmos do aeroporto com o táxi contratado. A primeira impressão da cidade foi excelente. Com belas praças, ruas arborizadas, carros bons, gente moderna, várias mulheres dirigindo, o trânsito um pouco intenso e demorou quase 45 minutos para chegarmos no hotel, que era localizado bem próximo ao centro histórico. No percurso já conseguimos visualizar o Estreito de Bósforo e o tráfego de navios é intenso.
Muralhas de Istambul
O hotel que reservamos era um que unia o custo e o benefício. Tinha que ser próximo ao centro histórico (Sultanahmet), para que fizéssemos a maioria dos pontos turísticos a pé. Foi uma excelente escolha e pelo preço que pagamos não esperava que o hotel fosse tão bom. Na verdade excelente! Atendimento classe A, o recepcionista Ibraim, nos deu todas as dicas e nos tratou como parentes. Os turcos gostam muito dos brasileiros.
Obelisco Egípcio
Deixamos as bagagens e já descemos para a Sultanahmet, http://www.sultanahmetcamii.org/ uns dois quarteirões do hotel. Antigamente este local era um Hipódromo, foi soterrado, mas ainda manteve o formato original e alguns monumentos lindíssimos e muito representativos. Logo avistamos os Minaretes da Basílica. Imponente e lindo! Símbolo de Istambul. São vários e tanto a Mesquita Azul, a Basílica e outras Mesquitas possuem os Minaretes, que são colunas lindas e altas, que segundo os muçulmanos, convocam o povo a oração. Na praça principal onde está localizado a Mesquita Azul e a Basílica Santa Sofia, http://ayasofyamuzesi.gov.tr/ tem dois obeliscos gigantes. Um parece de várias pedras e o outro com inscrições egípcias. Foi trazido do Egito, pelo Imperador Teodósio e é muito antigo, 1490a.c. Hoje está na praça apenas a terça parte dele e é muito bem conservado.
Coluna da Serpente
Logo a frente está a Coluna Serpentina ou Coluna da Serpente, que está em uma espécie de poço, mas que na verdade é onde ela foi fincada a muitos anos no Hipódromo, como hoje foi soterrado ela ficou em um plano mais baixo. É uma antiga coluna de bronze e foi trazida para Constantinopla, hoje Istambul, por Constantino. Foi construída para comemorar a vitória dos gregos sobre os Persas. Chama Serpente porque tinha 3 cabeças de serpentes, mas já foram destruídas. Uma ainda está intacta e fica no Museu de Arqueologia de Istambul. http://www.istanbularkeoloji.gov.tr/ Tem quase 2500 anos!

Constantino VII construiu um outro obelisco, originalmente coberto por placas de bronze dourado, mas com o passar dos anos e pelas batalhas já está um pouco danificado, mas ainda bem bonito e imponente.
Mesquita Azul vista da sacada de um apartamento
Enquanto andávamos pela praça, fomos abordados por um rapaz turco, que falava um pouco de português, segundo ele tem primos que moram em São Paulo. Estudava português para ser guia de brasileiros e com uma conversa que aos poucos nos envolveu, nos levou em sua casa para que tivéssemos uma vista melhor da Mesquita Azul e lá fomos. Mas, na verdade ele com a família vendia tapetes. Por sinal, muito bonitos, mas não estávamos interessados. Valeu a visita, um pessoal muito educado, trocamos cartões e prometemos contato. Esta foto acima é da sacada da casa do turco.
Mesquita Azul
Voltamos para a praça e fomos surpreendidos com a hora das orações. É um momento surpreendente. Existem alto falantes pela praça que fazem com que as pessoas ouçam as preces. Isso ocorreu às 18:00 horas (existem 5 horários de preces) e os turistas não podem entrar na Mesquita durante as preces. Parece um lamento e com o escurecer dá um ar todo especial. É o mundo deles, não o meu, sendo cristã. Mas, não tem como negar a beleza da Mesquita Azul e como todos respeitam esse momento. Quem fica do lado de fora também respeita, mas se pode continuar andando e tirando fotos, se bem que parece desrespeito. Preferi só observar. Não é demorado, logo começa uma pequena feira na praça com artigos regionais.
Fonte Alemã
No meio da praça tem a Fonte Alemã, inicialmente achei que seria um Coreto, como vários que tem nas praças das cidades do interior do Brasil. A fonte alemã, uma construção octogonal abobadada de estilo neo-bizantino, foi construída pelo governo alemão em 1900 para comemorar a visita a Istambul do imperador alemão Guilherme II em 1898. Se encontra em frente a Mesquita Azul.
Mesquita Azul
O nome popular dado a esta Mesquita, Azul, é uma referência à cor viva dos azulejos de seu interior. É uma das construções que mais se destacam na cidade. Foi construída pelo Sultão Ahmed e o nome verdadeiro é Mesquita do Sultão Ahmed I, do Império Otomano. É a única com 6 minaretes e seu interior é impressionante com azulejos azuis com diferentes tipos de tulipas, vitrais no alto por onde passa a luz solar proporcionando uma bela visão. Estivemos no final da tarde e no início da manhã e não tivemos a oportunidade de ver a tão famosa luz solar penetrando pelos vitrais.

Em frente a Mesquita Azul está a Basílica Santa Sofia (Ayasofya ou Hayasofia) inicialmente uma igreja, depois uma catedral bizantina, mais tarde uma mesquita e agora um monumento, que funciona como museu. A meu ver, a que representa melhor Istambul, pois representa muitas culturas e credos. Está entre as maiores igrejas do mundo.

Durante nosso passeio pela praça ao conversarmos em português, logo somos abordados por algum turco que fala português. São vários, eles estão por todo lado. A maioria diz ter parentes no Rio ou em São Paulo. Tem muito interesse no nosso país. Dizem que exportam muitos produtos para essas cidades e querem vender para os turistas também. Caso você se interesse e não quer levar na bagagem eles se responsabilizam em despachar. A conversa é sedutora. Afinal, estão nesta profissão á séculos e são realmente sedutores na arte de vender. Nem pense em confrontá-los. Eles sempre vencem.

A igreja foi construída pelos romanos e era a principal igreja do Cristianismo em Constantinopla destruída duas vezes em batalhas. Foi transformada em Mesquita pelo Império Otomano e eles encobriram os traços cristãos. Depois que a Turquia virou República, foi fechada e hoje é um museu.

Dentro da Basílica se é possível admirar mosaicos e afrescos da fé cristã e decorações com inscrições de versos do alcorão. Tem também nos seus jardins mausoléus de diversos sultães. Para visitá-la é necessário adquirir tickets que se pode comprar na bilheteria. Não é aberta às segundas-feiras.
Muros da Mesquita Azul
Bem pertinho da Basílica Santa Sofia está o Palácio de TopKapi, Parecendo uma cidade. Na época em que foi construído, o lado que dava para o mar era protegido por um muro de 2 quilômetros. Foi construído logo depois da conquista de Constantinopla. O nome Topkapi significa “porta do canhão”. Os monumentos em Istambul estão todos com explicações em dois ou mais idiomas em totens na entrada dos mesmos. Isso facilita muito aos turistas.

Durante o jejum do ramadã, esse pátio fica lotado após o pôr do sol. A entrada na Mesquita é grátis, durante os horário das preces não se pode entrar. Entrando, tem que se manter em silêncio, tirar os sapatos, não pode tirar fotos com flash e as mulheres devem usar lenços na cabeça para cobrir o cabelo.
Entrada da Cisterna da Basílica ou Yerebatan Sarnıç
Nos subsolos de Istambul estão escondidas várias cisternas. A mais famosa é a Cisterna da Basílica http://yerebatansarnici.com/ que abrange uma área de quase mil metros quadrados nas próximidades da Basílica de Santa Sofia. Foi construída por Justiniano em 532 para armazenar água para o Grande Palácio e outros edifícios próximos. É impressionante como o teto é suportado. Existem várias colunas de mármore, as mais famosas são as que estão com a cabeça da Medusa. Existem várias carpas nadando na água da cisterna. A visita é rápida e a entrada é bem próxima da praça, quase ao lado da Basílica e os ingressos podem ser adquiridos na bilheteria. Abre às 9:30 e fecha às 17:30 no verão às 18:30.

Dizem que durante o Imperio Otomano o sultão utilizou a água da cisterna para aguar as plantas do Palácio e deixou a população sem água.

O trânsito da cidade é frenético e em vários pontos pude observar engarrafamento. Depois de visitar o centro histórico, Sultanahmet, fomos para a Ponte Gálata. É fácil de chegar, tem o metrô de superfície que é bem eficiente. Como não queríamos perder muito tempo, contratamos um táxi que nos levou e nos trouxe até o Grande Bazar. Durante o percurso se pode ir observando o Estreito de Bósforo e logo avistamos a Ponte Gálata e a Torre Gálata.

A Torre Gálata http://www.galatakulesi.org/ foi construída por volta de 1340, bem antiga! Do alto de seus 9 andares, se é possível avistar a parte velha da cidade. Ela fazia parte da Colônia de Gálata, depois foi utilizada como um ponto de vigia de invasores e de incêndio. Hoje, é um ponto turístico muito procurado pelos turistas. Tem uma cafeteria e uma loja de souvenirs no último andar. É um ponto turístico que não se deve perder, pelo percurso até lá e pela Torre também. Nos seus arredores nota-se que a predominância muçulmana é maior que do outro lado do Estreito de Bósforo.

Retornando para o outro lado do Estreito de Bósforo, se pode observar outras mesquitas de Istambul. Uma que se destaca, está no alto de uma colina e é bem imponente, a Mesquita Süleymaniye ou de Solimão. A sua situação elevada faz dela uma das vistas mais conhecidas de Istambul. A mesquita faz parte das Zonas Históricas de Istambul, classificadas pela UNESCO como Patrimônio Mundial.

O taxista nos deixou no Grande Bazar, estávamos ansiosos em conhecer o tão famoso Kapalıçarşı (em turco), Bazar Coberto ou Mercado Coberto. É tudo que já ouvimos falar e muito mais. Tem muitas lojas, não dá para conhecer tudo em um dia. Dizem que são 4 mil lojas, 4 portões de entrada, 60 corredores e garanto muito fácil de se perder.

Dentro do Bazar não tem como se encantar com tantos produtos bonitos: cerâmicas, roupas, lenços, temperos, lâmpadas de mosaicos, joias,candelabros coloridos, porta-joias, chocolates, doces típicos, castanhas e claro, muitos tapetes. http://kapalicarsi.com.tr/tr/
Dentro do Grande Bazar de Istambul
O Grande Bazar é um dos maiores mercado do mundo, foi construído em 1453 por um sultão, para arrecadar dinheiro para a Basílica Santa Sofia. Já sofreu vários incêndios e terremotos e renasce das cinzas. É visitado por milhares de turistas por ano e vale muito a pena.
Chocolates e doces turcos
Os doces e chocolates são vendidos a granel e podem ser colocados em caixinhas personalizadas. Os preços são discutíveis e pelo menos dos doces são justos. Em qualquer lojinha que você entre lhe é oferecido um chá, de preferencia bem quente, para que você fique por mais tempo dentro da loja e o vendedor tente lhe convencer a comprar mais e mais.
Temperos típicos da Turquia
Não existe vendedoras e nem mulheres trabalhando com o contato direto aos turistas. Elas trabalham, mas onde não tenha contato com pessoas. Os garotos vão a escola sozinhos, as garotas não estão pelas ruas. Não sei como vão a escola. Em cada 100 adolescentes que estavam nas ruas, apenas umas 10 são meninas.

Em alguns corredores o fluxo de pessoas são menores e consequentemente os preços também. Do lado de fora e nas ruas próximas se encontram várias outras lojas, algumas com preços mais convidativos, mas sem o charme do Grande Bazar.

A cidade está bem preparada para receber o turista e preocupada com a má fama de insegurança. Andamos por suas ruas, pelo centro histórico, por outros bairros durante o dia e a noite também. Em momento algum nos sentimos inseguros. Tem policiamento em vários pontos e o exército nas ruas também.

QUANDO IR EM ISTAMBUL
Um dos períodos do ano mais propícios é sem dúvida alguma, a primavera, que vai de abril a meados de junho, outro bom período é entre setembro e outubro, em pleno outono. Julho e agosto são meses bem agitados na cidade, que sedia, nesse período, uma grande variedade de festivais. Esse período é de calor intenso; por outro lado, os dias estarão mais longos. Já aqueles que gostam de frio devem optar pela ida a partir de novembro – lembrando que a partir desta data pode nevar.
